Workspaces and Separate Windows

What are Workspaces

The Workspaces feature gives you the ability to save and restore the complete layout of the feature window.

A workspace stores the positions, sizes, and visibility of all components within the window.

By saving your preferred setup as a workspace, you can return to it at any time without having to manually rearrange or resize components.

This feature is especially useful if you switch between different tasks or working styles and want to maintain several different window layouts.

You can create multiple workspaces, give each one a unique name, and switch between them whenever needed.

Workspaces Menu

The Workspaces menu provides tools for capturing, managing, saving, and restoring your layouts. It includes the following commands:

Capture Workspace

Click this button to capture and store the current layout of the window exactly as it appears on the screen.

Because you may want to create multiple workspaces for the same window, you will be asked to provide a name for the new workspace.
Choose a name that helps you recognize its purpose later, such as Analysis View or Compact Layout.

Once captured, the workspace will appear in the list displayed in the menu below the command buttons, allowing you to quickly apply it again in the future.

Workspace name you can enter is limited to 30 characters.

Workspaces

Clicking this button opens the Workspaces Manager window.

The manager provides a central place to organize all of your saved workspaces. On the left side of the window, you will see a list of every workspace you have created. On the right side, a set of buttons is provided for managing the selected workspace:

Apply Workspace

Applies the currently selected workspace to the window. The layout of all components will instantly update to match the saved configuration.

Load Workspace

While the application normally saves and restores your workspace automatically, you also have the option to manually load workspace files from disk.
This is useful if you want to import a workspace created earlier or shared by another user. When you load a workspace file, it is added to your collection under the name you specify.

Remove Workspace

Deletes the currently selected workspace from your collection. Use this option to clear out layouts you no longer need.

Remove All Workspaces

Deletes every workspace currently stored in your collection. Use with caution, as this action cannot be undone.

Save Workspace

Saves the currently selected workspace back to disk under its existing name, overwriting the previous version.

Save Workspace As

Saves the currently selected workspace to disk under a new name. This allows you to create a copy of an existing workspace with a different name.

Additional Notes

Workspaces are not limited to the window layout only.

They also apply to the feature tools which can be opened as separate windows from the Navigation Pane.

This means you can capture, save, and restore layouts for both the  feature window and any additional tools positions you opened.
