Connected & Unconnected & Disconnected Numbers

In the Game Layout View  topic, we explored how games can be represented graphically using game numbers.

Here’s another concept for analyzing games:

What if we drew horizontal and vertical lines through the numbers of a lottery drawing?
We can create the analyze the occurrences of special number types that are formed by drawing horizontal and vertical lines across past lottery numbers on the game layout, which creates geometric divisions of numbers on the ticket.

As a result, the entire game layout is divided into three groups of numbers:

Connected Numbers

The first group of numbers is called Connected numbers, which are the numbers located on the lines where they intersect.

In the picture above, the Connected numbers include 1, 2, 5, 6, 8, 9, 12, 13, 22, 23, 26, 27, 43, 44, 47, and 48.

In the picture below, all Connected numbers are marked in red and yellow.
The red ones represent game lottery draw numbers that are also connected, while the yellow ones are the numbers found at the crossroads of the lines.

Unconnected Numbers

The second type of numbers are named Unconnected numbers.

These numbers also lie on the lines we draw but they are not at the crossroads of the drawn lines.
Our example numbers are 3,4,7,10,11,14,15 to 21,24,25,28,29 to 42,45,46,49

See in the picture below where all unconnected numbers are in gray.
 

Disconnected Numbers

The third type of numbers is called Disconnected numbers.
These numbers do not fall on the lines we draw; they are similar to Outside numbers, as they are not connected to any game number.
Examples of Disconnected numbers include 17, 18, 21, 31, 32, 35, 38, 39, and 42.
In the picture below, all Disconnected numbers are shown in brown.

Please note that in the Pick game type the Disconnected type of numbers does not exist.
 

Here is an example of poor number selection:

 

 
In the example above, even though the numbers 1 11 23 39 42 49 (circled numbers) are as any other numbers, unfortunately in this sample all of them are unconnected type of numbers.
There could be too many of these Unconnected type numbers, as in the game, drawing numbers consist more types mixed together.

The same idea applies to other types of numbers:
 

 
In the example above, even though the numbers 2 6 17 19 37 47  (circled numbers) are as any other numbers, unfortunately in this sample all of them are connected type of numbers.

The same idea applies as well to the disconnected types of numbers:

In the example above, even though the numbers 20 22 25 29 32 35  (circled numbers) are as any other numbers, unfortunately in this sample all of them are disconnected type of numbers.
There could be too many of these disconnected type numbers, as in the game, drawing numbers consist more types mixed together.

 
In most games, the number of disconnected numbers in the layout is smaller compared to other types.
For instance, in games like Pick, they are absent, and in Keno, their count is very low.
This rule can vary depending on the game. In games with a bonus number draw, the opposite occurs, disconnected numbers are more common, while connected ones are not. Still, the principle remains the same: always choose numbers proportional to their occurrences on the ticket.
 

This filter can be used to filter out lottery numbers, wheel system combinations, or generated tickets.
You can filter those numbers by Connected or Unconnected or Disconnected Numbers occurrences

On the Filters window select the Add Filter tab, choose Types of Numbers main filters group from the list on the left side of page.

Select Occurrences of Connected or Unconnected or Disconnected Numbers filter from the list on the right side of page.

Click the Add Filter button located on the toolbar. Selected filter will be added to your Game Filters list.

After adding the filter, you can go to the Game Filters page in the same Filters window to edit the filter properties.

The added filter will be located under the Types of Numbers group of all filters, with its value in the Number Main Type cell set to added number type.
In this example, we will focus on the Connected numbers, but this also applies to the Unconnected or Disconnected numbers as well.
 
Use

If selected, the filter will be used to apply filtering.
 

Action

- When you choose Accept action then:

The generated ticket include Connected numbers.

The wheel system will only accept combinations that include Connected numbers

- When you choose Reject action then:

The generated ticket will not include Connected numbers

The filter will reject wheel system combinations with Connected numbers

Number Main Type

Display the number type to filter numbers.

You can choose another type to filter by using the drop-down menu.

However, avoid setting the number type to ALL when using this filter.

Number Subtype

Not used with this filter
 
Value

Sets the condition value for the filter to be satisfied. The filter works with Number Main Type option.

You can set here for example how many Connected numbers you want to include into generated tickets

Range

Displays or sets the filter's condition range value, used only when the filter's condition is set to a Range of Values.
The value applies to Number Main Type option.
 

Condition

Filter conditions you can apply to meet the filter Value option criteria .

You can select a filter condition from drop-down list combo box one of the following conditions:

Any Value

If the filter action is set to Accept, tickets and all wheel system combinations will be included regardless of how many Connected numbers they contain. This option effectively disables filtering for this condition, allowing every possible combination to pass through.

If the filter action is set to Reject, all tickets and wheel combinations will be excluded, regardless of how many Connected numbers they contain. This option can be used to completely eliminate all combinations for the selected number type from the results.

Equals Filter Value

If the filter action is set to Accept, tickets and all wheel system combinations will be included only if the total number of Connected numbers they contain is exactly equal to the number specified in the Value column. This ensures only combinations meeting the exact Connected number count are selected.

If the filter action is set to Reject, any tickets or wheel combinations where the total number of Connected numbers is exactly equal to the specified value will be excluded from the results, leaving only those with a different count of Connected numbers.

Higher than Filter Value

If the filter action is set to Accept, tickets and all wheel system combinations will be included only if the total number of Connected numbers they contain is greater than the number specified in the Value column. This allows you to focus on combinations where the quantity of Connected numbers exceeds the set threshold.

If the filter action is set to Reject, any tickets or wheel combinations where the total number of Connected numbers is greater than the specified number will be excluded from the results, ensuring that only combinations with Connected numbers equal to or below the specified value remain.

Lower than Filter Value

If the filter action is set to Accept, tickets and all wheel system combinations will be included only if the total number of Connected numbers they contain is less than the number specified in the Value column. This makes it possible to target combinations with fewer Connected numbers than the set limit.

If the filter action is set to Reject, any tickets or wheel combinations where the total number of Connected numbers is less than the specified value will be excluded from the results, leaving only combinations with Connected numbers equal to or above the specified value.

Range of Values

If the filter action is set to Accept, tickets and all wheel system combinations will be included only if the total number of Connected numbers they contain falls within the range specified in the From and To columns (inclusive of both ends). This range condition enables fine control over the acceptable quantity of Connected numbers.

If the filter action is set to Reject, any tickets or wheel combinations where the total number of Connected numbers falls within the defined range will be excluded from the results, ensuring that only combinations outside that range are kept.
 

Here is the example of setting up filter to filter wheel system or numbers when generating tickets:
For example in a game 6/49 and for flexible and rather fail safe filtering please do as following
Set the Action property to Reject

Under Filter Condition Options > Value cell, set the cell value to 4, a little less  than the quantity of numbers drawn in a game .
Under Filter Condition Options > Condition combo box choose the More Than Filter Value condition
The generated tickets or wheel system combinations will not contain more than four Connected or Unconnected or Disconnected numbers.
The occurrence of more than four numbers in such games is very rare.

Select from the Visual Analyser menu select:

Types of Numbers > Occurrences of Connected or Unconnected or Disconnected Numbers
The result of analysis is shown on a Visual Analyser's screen

The first diagram shown at the top of screen illustrates the general occurrence of Connected or Unconnected or Disconnected Numbers numbers.
 

If numbers are not drawn as Connected numbers, the diagram will display a point in row 0. If they are drawn as Connected numbers, the diagram will show a point in the row corresponding to the number of Connected numbers drawn.
